Has it really been 10 years...YOU BET!!!

Ok so we are a couple of dorky people who have managed to stay married for 10 years! What a rare thing these days. To celebrate, we enjoyed a night out without the kids (also rare). We had a lovely dinner that we couldn't even finish because we didn't have any little ones to share with. We just aren't used to having it all to ourselves anymore. We even went all out and got dessert (which we DID finish) It has been an amazing 10 years and I can't think of a single thing that I would dare change. Everything, good or bad, has been part of our growth and learning together. I see this picture of us and I still see those 2 teenagers that started hanging out, going bowling every week and watching X-Files together. Though now we're both a bit rounder, a bit gray, and a lot sleepier we are still very much that silly couple that started out breaking every single rule there is. Over the years we've grown together to follow that straight and narrow path. We still have a lot to learn but I couldn't ask for a better person to go through my trials and joys with. We have some awesome memories which were discussed in length over dinner. We talked about the hardest of times and the most rewarding of them. There were moments of strange silence that are normally filled with the squawk of a wee one, but we worked through it. We also had to consciously eat at a normal pace, reminding ourselves that there were no children to help with their plates so we could take our time and taste our food and enjoy the company(or lack thereof).

Our thanks to Dad and Janice for sending us to dinner and to Karen, Dustin and Hannah for watching the kids. You guys really helped make for a memorable and worry free evening.

And in my best Wolfgang Puck accent "I am thanking you Wolfgang Puck!" As a gift to ourselves we have been planning to buy new cookware. We shopped around for a while and almost settled on something not quite exactly what we wanted but close. At Joe's sisters suggestion we checked one more place and found the perfect set for us. It is beautiful. And as an added bonus it was significantly under our budget so we were able to get some really cool knives too. In the end we have an 18 piece Wolfgang Puck cookware set as well as 4 of his knives. Exactly what we wanted (thank you so much to those who helped make that happen!). Now I just need some really cool new recipes to try out.
