Mark and his Monkeys

This is Mark, those are Marks Monkeys. Mark loves his Monkeys. Here is the story:

About 2 months ago I was at Babies R Us looking for a specific thing I needed for Abby. We walked over to where the stuffed animals are and Mark spotted some monkeys. I tend to let him play with something in the cart with no intent to purchase the item but it works out so I can prolong my wandering...I mean my intensely focused get in and get out shopping. So he's playing with the monkeys. Not only that, he LOVES these things! He is acting out one monkey making breakfast for the baby, rocking them in his arms just totally loving on them. It was time to go and so time to put the monkeys back. I asked him to put them on the shelf and he said "momma I LUB them!" Oh my gosh I was ready to start crying right there. Circumstances being what they were, at the time, I could not get the monkeys for him. I told him that if he put them back his birthday would be soon and we could come take them home then. He was sad, but gave them each a kiss and hug and said "BYE monkeys see you on Marks Birthday Party!" gotta love the 3rd person reference. Ok so fast forward, Mark gets an early birthday surprise from MeMaw (his great grandma) I told him we were going to get the monkeys and to be honest I thought by now he would have forgotten. No way! He was so happy! So we went and got the monkeys. Joe and I let him get them off of the shelf and he hunkered down in the cart and snuggled up with them right away as he wiggled his lil happy feet. It was SO stinkin' cute! He has been carrying them all around the house. He stole some baby doll diapers from Megyn's room and was putting them on the monkeys. He's been brushing their hair, letting them watch tv, reading to them. It's awesome! Oh and I almost forgot, their names are Daddy Monkey and Baby Monkey which is also sometimes Markie Monkey. Anyhow, I just thought it was a cute story worth sharing. I love this kid and I can't believe he is going to be 3 in just a few weeks. And yes Mark sleeps with his legs crossed like that a lot. He twists and turns all sorts of strange ways when he sleeps. I've found him several times with one half of his body hanging off of the bed, be it the top half, bottom or one of his sides. Crazy kid!

Oh another cute Mark story. A friend from church recently got some baby chicks. She brought a few to show the nursery kids. Mark was telling us about the baby chickens and how soft they were. I asked if they were cute and he says Yesssss. Then I said Is Mark cute too? And he says Yessss.....but I'm not a chicken!

Okay, this is such a cute story. I would break down and have to buy the monkeys too if my kids did that.
